In memory of Bertha "Bert" Rockler

Bertha “Bert” Rockler, age 93 of Golden Valley, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday January 12. Bert was preceded in death by beloved son, Gary Lewis Rockler, parents Anna and William Galanter, in laws Gertrude and Oscar Rockler, siblings Mary (Martin) Lebedoff, Oscar (Sarah) Galanter, Ted (Mildred) Galanter and Rose (Robert) Wade. Also preceded in death by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rivel and Morris Korsh, Pat and Leonard Daniels, Mike and Janet Rockler, Bill and Helen Rockler, Idy and Abe Garon, and Lollie and Ned Idelkope. Survived by loving husband of 67 years, Nordy; children Janie Rockler (Allan Schwartz), Ann Jackson (Robert); grandchildren LiLi and Alex Jackson, Jill Thies (Dan), Jennifer and Jeremy. “Baubie Bert” is also survived by great grandsons Henry and Charlie Thies. She leaves behind many caring and loving nieces and nephews who loved her very much and also her best friend Anne Dachis who she loved like a sister. Bert had many outside interest such as sewing, bridge and needlepoint. She was a longtime volunteer for organizations including Hadassah, Children’s Hospital and Sholom Home. Bert was a wonderful cook, and baker and loved to entertain. Bert and Nordy were able to travel the world and together they acquired a magnificaent collection of wood turned art pieces that have been admired by many. Her family would like to thank her caregivers Geri, Nowu, Vickey and Joan who cared for her with love and devotion and also the doctors and nurses from Park Nicollet Hospice Care for their exceptional care during her illness. Bert will be greatly missed by the many people who know and loved her. Funeral services WEDNESDAY 11:00 am, at BETH EL SYNAGOGUE, 5225 Barry Street West, St. Louis Park. Memorials preferred to Norton and Bertha Rockler Foundation of the Minneapolis Jewish Federation or donor’s choice. SHIVA at 6051 Laurel Ave., Golden Valley, Party Room , Wednesday and Thursday at 7:00pm.
